The Aveiro City Council, pursuing its policy of promoting culture, inaugurated on June 18, 1993 the new building of the Municipal Library. On July 10, 1996, we opened our website. We were the first Public Reading Network Library on the net in Portugal.

Description
The Municipal Library of Aveiro is organically integrated in the Division of Culture, Tourism and Citizenship of the Department of General and Social Administration of the Municipality of Aveiro. Fulfilling its mission as a Public Reading Library, its activities are developed in order to facilitate access to the documentation and information existing in the most varied supports, through a set of services that promotes, makes available and puts into practice in order to respond quickly and effectively, to the requests of users who address it in the areas of information, culture and leisure.
It operates in a free access regime which allows all users to freely consult the documents in the reading rooms. The property, which has been completely rebuilt and adapted, preserving its exterior architectural features, began with Caixa Económica de Aveiro, the Delegation of Banco de Portugal, and finally received the Escola do Magisterio Primário Particular.
The Municipal Library of Aveiro, is today one of the main cultural facilities, which the Municipality offers to the entire Municipality of Aveiro. Gathering a documentary heritage that is undoubtedly very rich, we look forward to your visit ...
