GR50 – Grande Rota Peneda-Gerês
With about 200 km, spread over 19 stages, the GR 50 - Grande Peneda-Gerês Route crosses the five municipalities that make up the Peneda-Gerês National Park, from Ameijoeira, in Castro Laboreiro, in the extreme northwest, to Tourém, in northeast end. Each stage, longer or shorter, begins in the villages and the degree of difficulty of each one is different.

Description
Truly inspired by the culture and ways of life of the communities that have inhabited this territory for a long time, the GR 50 reveals Roman roads and medieval sidewalks, the paths of seasonal migrations between the mild and the wintery, the old trails that have been altitude meadows, pilgrimage paths on pilgrimage to places of worship, smuggling routes, among other itineraries.
In all its extension, there is no lack of opportunities to discover the rich historical and archaeological heritage of the National Park, live with the traditions and culture of the communities that inhabit this mountain territory and enjoy the local flavors.
Step by step the reasons of natural interest also succeed, with emphasis on oak forests, true sanctuaries of biodiversity, where important species of flora and fauna take refuge. At higher elevations, the route runs through the cliffs of the mountain, overcoming the slopes to take hikers to the tranquility of the mountain.
In each walk a new experience is taken. Each season a new experience takes place, almost as if it were another route.
