The Pineapple Culture Interpretation Center (CICA), located in the historic center of the parish of Fajã de Baixo - considered the “pineapple capital of the Azores” - responds to the imperative of fixing the historical memory of this activity and promoting tourist use of its unique characteristics, anchoring in this suburban location of Ponta Delgada the tourist visit, not only to the permanent exhibition, but also to the plantations.

It is an area that tells us the history of pineapple culture in an attractive way, with the mission of valuing and disseminating our values and traditions.
In the exhibition space, visitors will be able to take a “journey” through the history of pineapples, and learn about the facts and technological developments that led to the obtaining of the “best pineapple in the world”.
Information is available regarding the knowledge of the phases of the pineapple production cycle, the business fabric that characterized its economy, historical personalities, gastronomy, among other aspects.
