The foundation of the Convent and Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Esperança dates from the 19th century. XVI, having undergone subsequent changes in the 17th and 18th centuries. The chapel is richly ornamented with gilt carvings and 18th century tiles, produced by the Royal Fábrica do Rato.
