In the archaeological station, traces of an old fortified settlement dating back to the Iron Age can be seen, having been later occupied, at the time of Romanization.
3150-111 Lamas do Vouga
Águeda
This archaeological site was partially excavated in the 20th century by António Gomes da Rocha Madahil and, at the end of the same century, by the Archeology Office of the City Council of Águeda.
According to the most recent investigations, he identifies himself with the Talábriga opposites of classical sources, capital of one of the civic communities in which the Escalabitano Convent was divided. Its territory essentially corresponded to the Baixo Vouga region. In the Middle Ages, the fortified settlement that still existed there was known as castro, castle or Cividade Marnel.
The station has been classified as a Public Interest Building since 1947. wikipedia.org
