The Mother Church of Águeda has as its patron Saint Eulália (it was considered one of the greatest martyrs of the first three centuries of our era). Its construction is not known, for sure, when it started, as documentation only begins to appear from the year 1320, in the reign of D. Dinis.

Description

For the inhabitants of Águeda, this building is one of the oldest monuments in the city. It had a very important role, because it was around it that the population started. Its construction is not known, for sure, when it started, as documentation only begins to appear from the year 1320, in the reign of D. Dinis.

Over the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries major renovations were carried out, which we can still observe today.
