Dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Penha de França, the Vista Alegre chapel was built by the Bishop of Miranda do Douro, D. Manoel de Moura Manoel (1632-1699), on his farm in Ílhavo. The works, in an advanced stage in the year 1697, should be completed in 1699, the date of his death. However, his remains were transferred there only in 1706. Source: http://www.visitilhavo.pt
