Ferreira do Alentejo, also known only as Ferreira, is a Portuguese village belonging to the District of Beja, region of Alentejo and sub-region of Baixo Alentejo, with about 3 700 inhabitants in 2013.

It is the seat of a municipality with 648.25 km² in area and 8 255 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 4 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of Alcácer do Sal and Alvito, to the east by Cuba and by Beja, to the south by Aljustrel, to the southwest by Santiago do Cacém and to the west by Grândola.

Located on a small elevation, surrounded by extensive plains, the town of Ferreira do Alentejo is at the southern end of this municipality and at its limit with those of Aljustrel and Beja.

There was a castle here, apparently founded by D. Gualdim Pais, of the Order of the Templars. The village that received a charter from D. Manuel I in 1516, belonged to the dukes of Aveiro and later to the crown.

Of the built heritage of Ferreira do Alentejo, the main church stands out. Quinhentista, has undergone several restoration works since its construction. Inside, you can see an arched vault in the baptistery and, on the altar of Nossa Senhora da Luz, a board also from the 16th century. Heritage: Chapel of Calvary and parish churches, Nossa Senhora da Conceição and Misericórdia.

With about six thousand people, this parish is typically urban, as its main activities are commerce and services. Agriculture, here, does not play the same role as in the rest of the municipality.
