MUSEUM OF THE SANCTUARY NOSSA SENHORA DA ABADIA

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Abbey, housed in the former "barracks" of the Sanctuary, is fundamentally identified by sacred art, statuary, tools, documentation and religious demonstrations. Ethnography, folklore and handicrafts (flax culture) also contribute to their identity.

GEIRA

The human occupations of the Amaranese territory, which go back to other times, have left a legacy built.

This Roman road, about two thousand years old, linked Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Asturica Augusta (Astorga). This connection between the two capitals of the North-West Peninsular facilitated, in the Roman time, the access to the mountainous regions of the Northeast of the territory under the control of Bracara, to the western space under control of Asturica.

In Amares, we can cross part of this route, recommending the route between the Place of Via-Cova, in the parish of Paredes Secas, to Santa Cruz, in the parish of Seramil, and it can continue through the Municipality of Terras de Bouro.
