The Pottery Museum occupies the building of the old “Casa dos Mendanhas Benevides Cyrne”, located in the historic center of the city. It was created in 1963 and opened to the public in 1995. Member of the Portuguese Network of Museums (Institute of Museums and Conservation) since 2000.

Its collection, which currently has about 9000 pieces, consists essentially of collections of matte and glazed Portuguese ceramics (from north to south) and foreign (from Angola, Algeria, Brazil, Timor, Chile, Spain and Cape Verde). Its mission is to acquire, research and disseminate this important olive heritage, as well as its preservation. You will be able to enjoy pieces of black crockery, matte red crockery, glazed red and fine crockery.
