Built in the 17th century, and expanded in the following century, the Casa dos Biscaínhos remained in the possession of the same family until 1963, when it was sold to a public body, which installed the Museum, which opened on February 11, 1978.

The museological structure takes advantage of the possibilities of the property, thus allowing the dissemination of the noble daily life of the North of the country, in the Baroque period. Essentially, decorative arts are exposed, in a direct context, "provided by the original organicity and the ornamental richness of the Manor, creating a sequence of spaces suggestive of the past's habitability: the Noble Hall, the Library-Office, the Rooms of the Platform, the Oratory, Music and Game, the Dinner, the Stables, the Kitchen and the Gardens "(Museu dos Biscaínhos, RPM).
