Museu de Arqueologia D. Diogo de Sousa
Created in 1918, this Museum was revitalized in 1980, as a Museum of Archeology. Dependent on the Institute of Museums and Conservation and the Ministry of Culture, the Museum is active in the field of supporting research and enhancing the archaeological heritage.

Description
It has a restoration laboratory and specialized technical services. The public area includes an auditorium, temporary and permanent exhibitions, shop, educational services, library, cafeteria and garden.
The name of the Museum is associated with the archbishop D. Diogo de Sousa (1461-1532), to whom important measures of urban remodeling in Braga were due and the fact of having gathered the oldest archaeological testimonies of this city, until then dispersed.
Between the 16th and 19th centuries, there were some initiatives in favor of creating a museum, but it was not until 1918 that the “Museum of Art History and Archeology” emerged. Due to adverse circumstances, the museum did not operate regularly until 1980, when it was revitalized, as a Regional Archeology Museum. Since then, it has developed its activity in the scope of preservation and dissemination of the local and regional archaeological heritage, having opened to the public in June 2007.
In addition to these facilities, the Museum has ample landscaped outdoor spaces, open to the public.
