The Cordophones Museum is made up, in essence, of all string instruments belonging to Domingos Machado's personal collection. The life and work of this artisan from Braga are internationally recognized. It is known by collectors of typical instruments and specialists and appears in publications, national and foreign, of the specialty.

Description

Inaugurated in September 1995, its uniqueness lies in the fact that all the exposed cordophones were built by the craftsman himself, following the ancestral methods that were left to him by his father.

It has several collections of string instruments: cavaquinhos, classical violas, guitars, banjos, banjolins, mandolins and typical violas.
It also has the most characteristic instruments of the region, such as cavaquinhos and violas braguesas. Some of these instruments are, even rare, like the 19th century viola. XVII, the baroque viola of the century. XVIII, and even a copy of an American dulcimer.
