Built between the 1st and 3rd centuries d. C. during the Flavian urban renewal of the ancient Bracara Augusta, this monumental thermal complex is located on the upper platform of the hill of Maximinos, in the highest area of the city of Braga, constituting the only building of public characteristics identified so far in the excavated perimeter of this important Roman city.

Although its original outline has not yet been fully excavated, the investigations carried out to date allow us to affirm that we are facing a building that has undergone some structural changes since the beginning of its construction - the 19th century. I d. C. - until the time when its use would have been abandoned, already in the 5th century d. C., at a time when the Roman Empire in the West collapsed.
