Description

The antiquity of Vila de Fão is very evident in the approximately 144 graves and remains of a building, which date back to the period that oscillates between the 11th and 14th centuries. The tombs are constituted in box and cover of schist or with box in granite and covers of schist plates, being oriented in the West-East direction. The skeletons of the tombs were still reasonably preserved, which led to an anthropological study. From the estate detected so far, some coins from the first dynasty and ceramics that can be attributed to the 12th to 14th centuries stand out.
