Esposende Municipal Market

The Esposende Municipal Market is located on the riverside, specifically on Avenida Eng.º Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira, in the city of Esposende, being easily accessible, with a medium-sized car park, free of charge.

The building, managed by the Municipality, is composed of ground floor, with 4 exterior stores, 3 interiors, 44 stalls and terraced spaces both inside and outside the building. One of the exterior stores has a café, while the rest are for entities that develop recreational activities. In indoor stores, with different uses, there is direct sales to the public. The stalls, organized by sales sectors, are intended for the sale of fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and tobacco products. In terraced areas, horticultural products are mostly marketed.

This municipal equipment is easily accessible, whether pedestrian or road, and is even adapted for the entry of people with reduced mobility. There is a free public car park, located south of the building. Loading and unloading is done preferably on Rua Piloto da Frita, north of the building.

The Municipal Market attracts not only the resident population, but also visitors or tourists, especially on Saturdays, highlighting the demand for fresh fish, since the village has a strong fishing tradition, and products linked to the land, since the activity of the county is fully rooted in the people of the county.

Fortnightly Esposende Fair

Municipal fairs have always had a strong tradition in Minho. On the defined calendar day, especially the people who lived in the villages, they soon got used to going to the fairs, either to sell their products or to stock up on products for themselves, for the family, for the home or for their work. . Farmers, seamstresses, housewives and marketers got used to living in this space, of secular use.

As time went by, the range of products for sale at the fairs grew, which forced the promoters of these events to expand the venues, providing them with more attractive ordering, circulation and access conditions, as happened in Esposende.

Currently, the grounds of the fortnightly fair of Esposende is located to the east of the urban core of the city, next to the headquarters of the Territorial Post of Esposende of the National Republican Guard and to the Central Bus Station of Esposende, 200 m from the junction of EN 13 with Rua do Mouchinho.

This space is organized by sectors, with more than 100 terraced places for non-sedentary retail trade. The fair takes place on Monday, every fifteen days and has a free public car park. There is a restaurant and drinks establishment inside the Central de Trucking and public toilets in the vicinity of the enclosure, which serve to support merchants and consumers.
