Description
Whether the sandbank of Cávado or the dune system, these are the landscapes that constitute the stage for walking and enjoying, calmly, this source of beautiful places and points of interest unique to our past.
Inserted in the Natural Park of the North Coast, this place serves as a refuge for many animal species, which can be observed both day and night.
The maintenance of plant species has also been one of the main objectives, in order to guarantee the existing habitats and biodiversity, observed not only along the Cávado river, in its sandbank, but also in the Pinhal de Ofir and a complex system of dunes / beach.
Location: The trail starts on the left bank of the Cávado River, unfolding through the Natural Park of the North Coast in the parish of Fão.
Starting Point: Clube Náutico de Fão.
Route Type: Small circular route.
Scope: Natural, cultural and landscape.
Distance to be covered: 5.7 Km
Difficulty Level: Easy
Recommended Season: All year
Cartography: Military Letter of Portugal, no. 68, from the Geographical Institute of the Army on the scale of 1/25000.
Interest Reasons: The Cávado River estuary and the species of fauna and flora that inhabit it; dune system that extends throughout the sea coast; the Ofir pine forest; the Chapel and Facho da Bonança; the Medieval Cemetery of Barreiras.

Additional information: When thinking about doing this trail, since a stretch requires circulation on the beach, predict accidents and observe the tide table as well as the strong waves / sea winds!
