The municipality of Fafe is located in the north of the country, in the district of Braga, about 41km, 62km from Porto and 380km from Lisbon. It lies between the banks of the Vizela and Ferro rivers and is essentially recognized for its gastronomy, heritage and natural beauties.

This municipality is well-known for lovers of Rally, in which the National Championship of this modality is realized.

Tourism is beginning to gain more and more ground in the municipality, namely rural tourism and housing, from which stands out the Tourist Village of the Pontido, near the Dam of Queimadela.

In gastronomy the highlights go to the veal and the roasted goat in the fashion of Fafe.

The city became cosmopolitan since the end of the nineteenth century, when immigrant investors from Brazil began to return, who decided to invest in the city, with the construction of beautiful and luxurious palaces.

This new urban life came to create what is known as the Fafe of Brazilians, still present today in public squares and gardens, namely the Garden of Calvary, the House of Culture, where the Museum of Migrations, the Museum of the Press and that of the Communities, or Clube Fafense.

But Fafe presents much more than just the city. Around the Alto de Morgair, where the county reaches an altitude of around 900 meters and rises the Vizela river, opens up the mountain landscape, ancestral, genuine and inspiring.

Very close to this place, in Aboim and Várzea Cova there is one of the largest spots of continuous oak in Europe. The pedestrian paths allow the discovery of these places of a unique beauty.

Also say that this area is particularly known for the most charismatic classifications of the National Rally Championship that lasted several years for Fafe and that returns this year, 2015.

With so many attractions, tourism is beginning to gain more and more ground in the county, namely rural tourism and housing, which highlights the Pontida Tourist Village, near the Queimadela Dam.

Those who pass through Fafe can not leave without visiting also, for example, the Romanesque Church of Arões, the historical Hydroelectric Power Plant of Santa Rita or the interesting Ruins of Castro de Santo Ovídio.
