Aldeia de Vilarinho da Furna
The village of Vilarinho da Furna was a place in the parish of Campo do Gerês, located in the Northeast of the municipality of Terras de Bouro. This village was submerged in the early 1970s and with it great ethnographic wealth, which is partly well portrayed in the museum's exhibition, especially the agro-silvo-pastoral activities, experiences and community spirit of its people, housing and other stories from the past .

Description
Vilarinho da Furna continues to be known as “extinct community village”, submerged by the waters of the Vilarinho das Furnas reservoir. But, not everything has been extinguished, because the remains that are preserved keep the memory of this space alive. This village, lost between the mountains of Gerês and Amarela, has no elements to date its establishment, being certain that there are remote vestiges of human life.
Vilarinho da Furna was a community village, whose origins are lost in the mists of memory. Since 1971, this village has been submerged by the reservoir of the Vilarinho da Furnas dam and with it a great ethnographic wealth. However, when the dam is emptied for cleaning or when the water level drops during periods of drought, the houses, paths and walls of the old village can still be seen.

Access to the area where the village is submerged is through a dirt track for private use by the former inhabitants of Vilarinho da Furna. Access by car is sometimes possible during the summer months, upon payment of an access fee by the association “A Furna”, in order to promote the maintenance of the memory of the habits and customs of the old village.
During the rest of the year, pedestrian access is only possible.
