Aldeia Típica Campo do Gerês
The village of Campo do Gerês, located on the left bank of the Homem River, in the middle of the Serra do Gerês and at the extreme NE of the municipality of Terras de Bouro, confronts the no less old parish of Covide, the municipality of Ponte da Barca and neighboring Galicia.

Templar or not, it is an ancient settlement for sure, as there are countless finds that testify to an archaic, persistent and continuous human occupation of its territory, from prehistoric times to today, as evidenced by the megalithic tombs, also known as Bouça da Chã mamoas , from Funde Vila and Bouça do Cruzeiro, or as witness from Castro de Calcedónia.
Installed on the southwest side of the Picota relief, at an average altitude of 630m, the seat of Assento, the main population in the parish of Campo, still exhibits some excellent examples of rural mountain architecture. Here and there, among the narrow streets, there are still some canastos with their summit crosses, or some balconies with customary woodwork, open to the street.
The main church of Campo do Gerês, which would have been built with materials remaining from the previous temple, has a small steeple on the sober facade, in the center and on the gables there are the crosses of the Via Crucis. Inside, besides the main altar, there are the collaterals of Our Lady of the Rosary, of the Heart of Jesus, of the Crucified Jesus and of Our Lady of Lourdes.
