Vieira do Minho

Description

Equipped with two floors, a chapel and a threshing floor of notable dimensions, an interior patio, with a triangular plan, is particularly noteworthy.

It is a house with a busy history, well in keeping with the contrast of the people of Minho then - great stately homes alongside the humble people of the land. In the specific case, the “house” was born, partly, in the 16th century, another part in the 17th century, but in the beginning of the second half of the 18th century, more precisely in 1728, by the will of a man from this region - Alexandre José de Lemos, is that it will be completed, including the chapel. This man's activity was very much and he is rewarded with the attribution of many titles, positions and functions: Commander and Knight Professed in the Order of Christ, Familiar of the Holy Office of Coimbra, Commander of the Militias of Vieira do Minho. In 1777 he was appointed consul of the Republic of Genoa, in Caminha. And, in 1779, they were given weapons from the Vieiras and Lemos, by a coat of arms from D. Maria I. In fact, their stone of arms will reflect that, starting vertically, with half of the Lemos and half of the Scallops. The Casa de Lamas has been added over the years, but, interestingly, always respecting the original design.

The chapel was a mix of artistry, with images of saints from Italy.

Casa de Lamas is a symbol of Vieira do Minho's heritage wealth at the service of the local and regional community. This has the duty to preserve the historical (estate of the Casa de Lamas) and Artistic memory of the Municipality and insert it in the cultural life of our days.

At the Casa Museu, named after Mestre Adelino Ângelo, born on November 8, 1931, to his parents' house, you can enjoy his painting - a collection of paintings that will be renewed every six months, so that everyone can enjoy the knowledge of his work odd in the world of representation of gypsy life, as well as one of the greatest figuratives of painting.

The Casa Museu Adelino Ângelo is referred to as a space for cultural activities, namely thematic exhibitions, aimed at the exhibition and experimentation of artistic exercises by creators, at the intersection of different techniques and supports, different artistic discourses and various themes that will reflect the most varied concerns and problems, present in the current artistic “territory”. It will be particularly pertinent that these exhibitions may constitute a reinforcement and a stimulus to the work that each artist may perform.
