It is a building from the last quarter of the 17th century, a two-storey rural manor house, whose façade consists of a small stone staircase and three windows without balconies, these concentrating the coat of arms with the family heraldry of Sarmento, Leite, Ferreira and Morais . José Joaquim de Figueiredo de Morais Pimentel (1852 - 1940) was the last Morgado, from Rio de Fornos. He ceded the Solar as a testament to the Vinhais Seminary. It was recently acquired by the City Council and, currently, keeping the original design, it is the Hospedaria do Parque Biológico de Vinhais.

The creator of this morgadio was Pedro Ferreira Moraes Sarmento, who was born in Rio de Fornos. By a will made on February 17, 1714, he submitted all his assets in a morgadio with the obligation of all his administrators to annually wear “ten poor brown cloth with cazaca calçoens meyas and shoes, hood or hat”. He died in 1717. Source: https://www.cm-vinhais.pt
