Moinhos do Alto de São Bento

The Alto de S. Bento Museological Center is a municipal educational project that aims to enhance and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the place that gives it its name: Alto de S. Bento. For the granitic massif, for the preciousness of the flora and for the historical load it is without a doubt the most admirable natural viewpoint of the city of Évora.

Description

The Évora City Council recovered the buildings, the Moinhos do Alto de S. Bento that had exhausted their original function many decades ago, and the space that surrounds them and restored their vitality and usefulness, with the use of the site for the realization of a municipal educational project: a museum center that took its name from the place. Thus, the Alto de S. Bento Educational Project was born, comprising the Granite Museum Center and the Floristic Museum Center.
