The beach is located in the picturesque village of Olhos d´Água, a land of fishermen who still occupy the beach today with their artisanal fishing boats. The famous freshwater springs that sprout from the sand, locally designated by water eyes or scouts, baptized the village and the beach.

Description

The water eyes are visible by the sea, at low tide, at the extreme east of the beach. But it is also the limestone cliffs that distinguish Olhos d´Água, since this is the first rocky beach in the passage from the sandy leeward to the rocky windward, and where you can observe the marine life in the intertidal range: limpets, shells, barnacles , small gobies, anemones and colorful algae. The rock formations, very indented, exhibit cliffs, caves, arches, and small sheltered coves.

It is a very popular beach, given its urban and tourist character, offering a central square with terraces and a small pedestrian promenade by the sea front, flanked by palm trees.
