"Oeiras is a Portuguese municipality located in the district and metropolitan area of ??Lisbon, being one of the municipalities of first crown of the capital. The small municipality of Oeiras, with a mere 45.88 km², is located in the final section of the Tagus Estuary (the Gargalo do Tejo area), on its right bank, around a small bay of the Lisbon Coast that 9 km long riverfront. Administratively, it is surrounded by the municipalities of Sintra and Amadora (to the north); of Lisbon (to the east); from Cascais (west); and Barra do Tejo and the municipality of Almada (south). Since 2013, it is divided into five parishes with a total of 173,149 inhabitants (2015), making it the 5th most densely populated municipality in Portugal.

Geographically, its territory presents some rugosidade, emphasizing in its landscape the valleys of the streams and zones higher, as they are the mountain range of Carnaxide. It is located on the Estoril Coast, benefiting from a temperate maritime climate suitable for outdoor activities and use of its attractive gardens, parks and beaches. Globally it is considered a municipality that enjoys a great quality of life. Its natural conditions, with very fertile soils and the proximity of the Tagus Estuary, made it from the early days of human occupation, having a markedly rural profile until the middle of the 20th century. More recently, its privileged position in relation to the capital has led to a growing development and urbanization, especially by the relocation of companies to the county. "
