The Anjos Teixeira Museum is dedicated to the sculpture exhibition of two great Portuguese Masters, father and son, Artur Gaspar and Pedro Augusto dos Anjos Teixeira, whose conceptions (drawing and sculpture) are part of Naturalism, Realism, Late-Naturalism and Neo Realism. Both explored the themes of human and animal anatomy, work, freedom, professions, the female condition and historical and religious figures.
Azinhaga da Sardinha, 2710-721 Sintra
Sintra
On September 24, 1974, Mestre Pedro Augusto dos Anjos Teixeira officially bequeathed to Edilidade Sintrense his entire estate (of a neo-realistic nature) and much of that of his father, Artur Gaspar dos Anjos Teixeira.
The works of these two great contemporary sculptor masters would thus be brought together in the same space. In 1976, it opened to the public, becoming the residence of the master Pedro Teixeira, who transformed it into a public House-Museum and a living studio, where he taught sculpture classes between 1977 and 1992.
Later, the museum underwent improvement works inside, having opted for painting walls and pedestals in lighter tones, in order to distinguish what is infrastructure and what is exposed and proceeded to tabulation of all the exhibited pieces .
It is installed in a property built at the beginning of the 20th century for water mills, which, in Azinhaga da Sardinha, used the waters of the Porto River.
