Scattered across the sand, there are several dark rocks that give it its own personality, combining the mountain landscape with the beach landscape. On the southern escarpment of the beach, visitors can admire the Pedra de Alvidrar, a huge rock that descends, almost vertically, down to the sea and which, according to local tradition, was an initiatory site for young men to prove their courage by descending it and climbing it at the risk of life itself.
In the same place, about fifty meters from the cliff, it is essential to take a look at Fojo, a very deep natural well that, at its base, has communication with the sea. The Fojo cave resulted from the corrosive action of rainwater, through fractures in the limestone rocks, combined with the erosive action of the waves, which originated a maze of caves, caves and huge cracks. It is said that the Romans believed that there was a Triton touching the conch at the bottom of the Fojo hole, with about 90 meters. In reality, it would be the noise caused by the waves, but at the time an embassy was even sent to Emperor Tiberius (between AD 14 and 34) to report the phenomenon.
In 2019, and for the third consecutive year, Praia da Adraga received the distinction "Beach with Gold Quality" awarded by Quercus - National Association for Nature Conservation. The distinction recognizes the quality of this beach as "Excellent".
