As the name suggests, Praia Grande is the largest beach on the Sintra coast, in an extension of white sands that delight the vacationers. The golden sands, the purity of the Atlantic waters and the cut of the coast, with steep cliffs of magnificent cut, make this beach of Sintra a real place of pleasure, at any time of the year...
Avenida Alfredo Coelho 2705-329 Colares
Sintra
Today it is one of the favorite places in the world for the practice of surfing and bodyboarding, and there are disputed some of the most important events in the national and international calendar of those sports, such as the World Championship of Bodyboard, in August.
The escarpment south of the cliff of the beach is characterized by large schist blocks, perpendicular to the sea line. We advise the visitor to climb the existing staircase and along which it is possible to identify sixty-six dinosaur footprints, dated 170 million years ago. Once you reach the top of the stairs, you can enjoy the magnificent view over the beach and the coast.
