Monte de Santa Cruz is a very built place with ancient roots. On this Monte, we find the Chapel of Santa Cruz (1693), on the east side, in the middle and on a lower level than the street, which is accessed by a descending staircase from the street.

It is surrounded by a churchyard paved with granite micro cube with alignments of plantains and framed by a grassy space punctuated by trees of considerable size. The east side of the enclosure opens on the surrounding landscape, on agricultural and forest areas and on the housing network. South of the chapel, adjacent to it, is a Calvary Station. Monte de Santa Cruz is a place of worship and popular pilgrimage. During the festivities of Senhor dos Passos, the Encounter Procession is promoted between the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Encontro and the Chapel of Santa Cruz.
