The Memorials of Alpendorada, in Marco de Canaveses, Sobrado, Castelo de Paiva, Ermida, Penafiel, and Santo António, in Arouca, are, according to legend, related to D. Mafalda, daughter of King D. Sancho I. They are traditionally referred to as a stopping point when transferring your body to the Monastery of Arouca.
Rua do Memorial 73, 4575-052
Marco de Canaveses
These monuments have a symbolic value of remarkable interest and uniqueness, especially since this typology is exclusive to Portuguese territory. The Memorial of Alpendorada seems to indicate the tomb function of this monument.
It integrates the Route of the Romanesque of Tâmega and Sousa.
