The Municipal Library of Paredes was initially located in a building dated 1866, where one of the 120 schools built in the middle of the 19th century previously operated, at the expense of Joaquim de Ferreira dos Santos, Conde de Ferreira, (n. Vila Meã, 1782-1866 ); then called the Popular Library of Paredes.

Description

The public access area is equipped with a general reading and multimedia room, a room for periodicals and documents of local and regional interest, a multipurpose room for lectures, meetings and presentations and a section for children and young people. The administrative space consists of the technical area and a diffusion and conservation deposit. The renovated Municipal Library of Paredes is a living space for communication and information sharing. More than promoting the book and reading, it has an essential role in preserving the memory of the territory, in education and in consolidating the knowledge and critical thinking of the entire community.
