Igreja de São Pedro do Mosteiro de Cete
Classified as a National Monument since 1910 and integrated in the Route of the Romanesque, the church of São Pedro do Cete Monastery is an excellent example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, with its origins in the 10th century, rebuilt in the 11th century and the target of several arrangements in the late 13th century and early 14th century, according to the inscription on the north wall of the chancel, next to the sarcophagus of D. Abade Estevão Anes.

Description
It is a monastic church built by Benedictine cluniacenses, consisting of a single longitudinal nave and chancel with two semicircular ends, rhythmic with blind arcades. On the main façade, the pointed arch portal stands out, with three archivolts, based on columns of ornate capitals with a vegetable theme. To the north rises a battlements tower reinforced by a powerful botaréu, which, in addition to its bell function, symbolizes the lordship of the abbot of the monastery. Inside, it houses the funerary chapel of D. Gonçalo Oveques, richly decorated by panels of polychrome tiles of Hispanic-Moorish origin. Establishing the connection between the old monastic dependencies and the temple, it will be possible to circulate in the cloister which, due to its interior and dimension, invites the visitor to retreat. The implantation and constructive characteristics of this monastic ensemble show its importance in the occupation and defense of the territory during the reconquest, as well as in the formation and consolidation of nationality.
