Mamoa de Brandião is a prehistoric funerary testimony, located in the parish of Aguiar de Sousa. Its monumentality clearly visible in the territory and in the landscape served as a mark of property limit and local denomination in the Inquiries of 1258 and in the Tomb of the Abacial Table of the Monastery of Paço de Sousa of 1651.

Over the years it has been the target of violations which have resulted in a large central crater and fragmentation of the pillars.
The ignorance of the importance of this mound as a testimony to the presence of prehistoric man and his funerary practices led to the place becoming a garbage dump.
Concerned with the preservation of the monument, the City Council submitted, through the Department of Culture, in 2003, a candidacy to ADER-SOUSA, with the project “Protection and Valorization of Mamoa de Brandião”, developing, in 2004, works cleaning, giving the monument more visibility, informative signs were placed and various activities were carried out for educational purposes.
