Praça José Guilherme 4580-130
Paredes
This wooded place served for the realization of the Vila market and as a meeting and leisure point. Although in the late 19th century it was called Praça José Guilherme, it was only in 1927 that the statue of the councilor was placed in its center.
The central character of this place was strengthened on August 25, 1940, with the inauguration of Cruzeiro da Independência, within the framework of the Centenary Commemorations and with the laying of the first stone of the Paços do Concelho building, to which each parish contributed a basket of earth.
Today, José Guilherme's Square continues to be a reference from the historical point of view, but also a modern, lively and welcoming space. This square has a garden where people like to stroll and socialize, with a playground that invites the little ones to play while their parents rest. It has the particularity of being in the center of the city and for that reason, it is a strategic reference point.
Some works of art from the Public Art Circuit in the city can also be visited.
