The Cultural Forum of Ermesinde, inaugurated on May 18, 2001, occupies the building of an old factory unit of which the oven is preserved as a museum gallery. The old factory was founded and started its activity in 1910 under the name of Empresa Industrial de Ermesinde, dedicated to the manufacture of marseille tile, brick, sanitary ware, among others.

The centenary kiln is the best preserved space in the original structure and the most noble of the building. It was fully maintained in structural terms, using the vents to install lighting and air conditioning. Inside the oven that, once heated, used to cook ceramic products, you can now find temporary exhibitions regularly. Both the Museological Gallery and the other Exhibition Galleries of the Forum now host exhibitions from the most respected authors to young emerging talents, embracing different artistic aspects, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, architecture, installation, among others. Names like Albuquerque Mendes, Cruzeiro Seixas, Jaime Isidoro, José Rodrigues, Nadir Afonso, Souto Moura, Sebastião Salgado have passed by here…
The Forum also has an auditorium. This unique and excellent cultural space deserves your visit, to be dazzled by the size of the old oven.
