Mosteiro de Santa Clara

Although founded in 1318 by D. Afonso Sanches and D. Teresa Martins, the building we know is a construction from the 18th century, since, since the middle of the 17th century, the building was on the edge of ruin and unable to the nuns who lived there. However, given the serious problems that the country went through in the eight hundred and with the extinction of monastic orders, the works were incomplete.

Description

Between 1929/1932, the General Directorate of National Buildings and Monuments carried out intervention works and completed the façades, in what is one of the most emblematic monuments in Vila do Conde.
