The Corpus Christi Convent was originally built by the river in the 14th century. The Church experienced a gradual degradation caused by the constant flooding of the Douro River, which led to the construction, by the nuns of S. Domingos, of the current chapel in the century. XVII. The monastery underwent profound changes in the 17th and 18th centuries and was extinguished in 1834.
