Central Elétrica de Tomar Núcleo Museológico
Located in the Cultural Complex of Levada de Tomar, the Power Station is a museological project under the responsibility of the Municipality of Tomar, developed in the continuation of the actions of rehabilitation and requalification of that industrial architectural complex, located in the historic center of the city.

Description
The Power Plant becomes the first industrial unit of the Levada de Tomar Cultural Complex to open its doors to the public, formally beginning its new cultural use. It shows and reflects the memory of that industrial equipment in its different material and immaterial dimensions. It also intends to provide the presentation and interpretation of different groups of electric energy production, as well as the history of electrification in Tomar.
This equipment also recalls that the Tomar Power Plant, inaugurated on July 1, 1901, appeared with the purpose of supplying electricity to the 100 lamps of 16 candles for the city, and that Tomar was one of the first cities in the country, to have electric public lighting.
Promoting the preservation and enhancing the valorization of the cultural heritage, the Municipality of Tomar thus returns an industrial legacy and testimony of the history of local development to public enjoyment.
