Convento de São Francisco is a Mannerist building built around two cloisters.
Av. General Bernardo Faria 2300-000
Tomar
In the middle of the 17th century, it replaced the chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos. It welcomed the community of the then defunct Santa Cita house.
17th century temple (1625-1660), characteristic of Chã Architecture. The facade highlights the mannerism of the portal and the frontispiece.
Inside, from a single nave covered at great height by a barrel vault, the sculptures of a very rare Calvary and the four pictorial representations of the Life of the Virgin are highlighted.
In the first chapel on the side of the Gospel, the image of Santa Iria, patron saint of the city of Tomar, stands out.
