The set of paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs covers a chronological arc that extends from 1932 to the present. Works by Mário Eloy, Júlio and Almada Negreiros, mark the Modernism of the second quarter of the 20th century. Surrealism has a prominent place with a significant number of works, produced from the Surrealist Group of Lisbon, where names like António Pedro, Vespeira, Fernando de Azevedo or Fernando Lemos are counted. Abstractionism and the emergence of New Figuration are also represented with works by Fernando Lanhas, João Cutileiro, Joaquim Rodrigo, Noronha da Costa, among others. It completes the collection, the varied production that marks the end of the century until today.

A collection made up of more than two hundred works of contemporary Portuguese art, the Center includes pieces of sculpture, painting, drawing, photography. Gathered by José-Augusto França, the collection reflects well the work and friendship relations that he established during more than sixty years of activity as a critic and art historian.
