Description

 The Forte do Cão or Gelfa beach offers all the conditions to enjoy the bathing season in full. Within the required quality parameters, the extensive sands and the sea, combined with the landscape, provide all vacationers with a memorable season.

This beach includes all the necessary equipment for its enjoyment and its therapeutic qualities, due to the amount of iodine, are recognized. Its beauty, justifies the visit in any month of the year.

In the area surrounding the beach, natural elements (biotic and abiotic) dominate, especially the Mata Nacional da Gelfa. Of note is the existence of support services (catering), as well as the Camping Park of Gelfa, which registers a high occupation during the bathing season. The presence of Forte do Cão marks the landscape of this beach. Here, the Forte do Cão was built between 1699 and 1702, having been classified as "Property of Public Interest" in 1967.
