In one of the main squares in the Vila, surrounded by several other interesting works, is the Fonte de São João, a Baroque building dating from the 18th century. In the eighteenth century style, this monument was initially built in the place of Assadura, being transferred to the current location only in 1903.

Melgaço
This backrest fountain deserves a close look for its elaborate decoration, boasting seven inscriptions and a central niche. In the center, there is a frown flanked by two snakes, a representation of Agnus Dei, a coat of arms and a sculpture representing Saint John baptizing Christ.
Inserted in a small landscaped and paved space, it offers some benches where we can relax while enjoying the fantastic view that it offers over the whole village. A great way to get an overview of the historic center of Melgaço.
