Installed in the imposing building known as Paço do Marquês, erected in the second half of the 15th century as the residence of Mayor Leonel de Lima, the Ponte de Lima Military History Interpretation Center is the result of a protocol established between the Portuguese Army and the Municipality of Ponte de Lima in 2011.

Description

The Center highlights the importance of the geostrategic location of Ponte de Lima, assumed since the Roman period, and narrates, in an approach over time, the main episodes of military nature that took place in this historic town and in the surrounding territory. In parallel, the evolution of armament and clothing and uniforms is traced. Also mentioned are military figures from Ponte de Lima, or who with this medium had strong connections, but who distinguished themselves in other scenarios of war and in high military and diplomatic functions in the global context of the History of Portugal.
