Limian territory has been privileged for centuries on its road network. It is crossed south-north by one of the most important Roman roads, Via XIX mentioned by Antonino. Other secondary roads would complement this and thus a network was formed that would last for the following centuries. In medieval times, travelers continued to use the old Roman route and adapted new alternatives. Today one of the main routes became known as the Camino de Santiago, because it was used as the main itinerary by pilgrims heading to Compostela. Source: https://www.visitepontedelima.pt/
