Parque de Vidago

Vast and generous are some of the many adjectives that describe the beautiful Natural Park that surrounds the Vidago Palace Hotel. With its century-old trees, it surrounds the hotel as a protective mantle. Created in 1910, it presents a typical landscape from the beginning of the 20th century, which remains intact today. Its alleys, paths, trails and water mirrors invite visitors to stroll through the grove that changes color according to the seasons.

It is impossible to remain indifferent to the grandiflora magnolias and their impressive flowering, to the camellia japonica and their gigantic dimensions, to the superb alignments of the platanus hispanica ... It is impossible to ignore the beauty of the sempervirens redwoods with their tortured trunks! Impressive, majestic trees, extraordinary essences, flowers and lakes, shadows and clearings, birds and squirrels ... A whole living universe that makes the place magical!

Four beautiful sheltered fountains, with traditional architecture, are scattered throughout Vidago Park. Two of them are still active. It is possible to taste the water from the Vidago Water Fountain, next to the Hotel, in small quantities.

The tranquility of Vidago Palace Hotel is its raison d'être. The hotel inherited this vocation from the old thermal spa - 100 hectares of park and forest, populated by mineral water pavilions -, as it inherited the discreet refinement portrayed throughout the Palace! As you pass through the large iron gates of the Vidago Palace Hotel, the lavish main alley rips into an enchanted forest, where plane trees, magnolias, pines, camellias and holly snakes the monumental reddish ocher facade of the hotel.

Green is the mother color of the Vidago Palace Hotel, which invites leisure and offers a unique view of its true essence. From the windows of the Vidago Palace Hotel you can appreciate one of the best examples of romantic architecture of the 20th century in Portugal - the Vidago Park, precisely.

This is the main attraction of the village of Vidago. The park is home to a fantastic universe of fauna and flora where pure air and the three mineral springs reign in the name of Vidago's famous thermal waters. In this green space is also one of the best golf courses in Europe, with 18 holes, and a traditional Thermal Spa, designed by the emblematic Portuguese architect Siza Vieira.
