Peso da Régua
The vestiges of occupation date back to the period between the 1st century AD and the 4th / 5th centuries AD It presents a defensive system consisting of two lines of wall, built in schist, with the respective access located to the SO, a characteristic that, as a whole, it has been given the general designation of castellum or fortified villa.
The archaeological excavations carried out by Russell Cortez revealed the existence of some dependencies originally devoted to agricultural activity, among which the presence of a wine or olive oil press - or torcularium - stands out, which seems to attest to the importance attributed to the cultivation and wine production. In the housing part of the villa were found several polychrome mosaics, decorated with fish figures, covering a bathtub about one meter deep.
