Rua Marquês de Pombal 5050-282
Peso da Régua
The headquarters building of the Douro Museum is located in the city of Peso da Régua, the result of the rehabilitation of one of the most emblematic buildings in the history of the Demarcated Douro Region of the 18th century, Casa da Companhia, which opened on December 20, 2008. Combining tradition and modernity, it is assumed as a collective space of memory and identity of the wine region, in constant dialogue with the present, and simultaneously, as an instrument of valorization of the activities associated with vitiviniculture, cultural tourism and wine tourism.
It consists of a central space - Exhibition Area - where the permanent exhibition “Douro: Matéria e Espírito” is located.
In the surroundings of this exhibition space there is the Restaurant «A Companhia», the Store, the Information Center (Archive and Library), the Reading Room, the Conservation and Restoration Center, the Wine Bar and the Terrace in the Garden overlooking the Golden River.
In the adjoining space is another building of modern architecture lined with black schist panels, where the Educational Service is located.
