Casa de Mateus
This sumptuous manor, has been classified as a National Monument since 1910. All studies referring to Solar de Mateus are unanimous in considering it one of the most significant works of Portuguese civil architecture of the Baroque period. It is not known for certain what date the House began to be built, but it is certain that its completion took place in 1744.

Description
In this sumptuous manor, all the elements that characterize Baroque architecture are present, namely, symmetry, axiality, interrupted pediments, balustrades, staircases and high spiers.
SCHEDULE:
* 9:00 am to 6:30 pm.
* Casa de Mateus closes to the public on December 25th.
Visiting arrangements:
* Option 1 - Guided tour inside the House, Chapel and free visit to the Gardens;
* Average duration of the visit to the interior of the House and Chapel: 40 minutes.
Price: € 12.50
* Children up to 6 years old have free admission.
* Schools (by appointment) and children from 7 to 12 years: 6.25 €
Option 2 - Free visit to the Gardens.
* Price: 8.50 €
* Children up to 6 years old have free admission.
* Schools (by appointment) and children from 7 to 12 years old: 4.25 €
Extras:
* Self parking: 8.50 €
* Guided tour of the winery: 1 €
* Wine Tasting: 4 €
In any type of visit it is possible to add a visit to the Casa de Mateus winery, a DOP Douro wine tasting and a Port wine tasting.
Grades:
* Under penalty of not being able to make the guided tour inside the House at the desired time, we suggest that group visits make a prior reservation.
* Guided visits to the interior of the House are made by own guides and in groups of no more than 10 people.
* We carry out guided tours in Portuguese, Spanish, French, English and German. In order to guarantee the guided tour in the desired language, we suggest prior booking.
