Nevertheless, the city of Amadora was constituted around the place of the Porcalhota, served by the Chapel of Our Lady of the Conception of the Lapa, seat of own brotherhood that had great assets.

It belonged, between the XIX and XX centuries, to the county of Oeiras, being in 1936 that dismembers of Carnaxide and happens to constitute parish, whereas the town is elevated the following year.

In 1979, the city is elevated and it has its own municipality due to its demographic development. Initially rural and dotted with villages and small couples, the county was developed due to the improvement of accessibility, especially after the construction of the Sintra Line. Between the 1950s and 1970s, it suffered a demographic explosion because of its position within the first crown surrounding the capital. "
