The Museum, installed in the Palácio Pimenta building, comprises a long-term exhibition area, a temporary exhibition area (Black and White Pavilions intended for temporary exhibitions of the Museum and the Contemporary Art Gallery, respectively), a documentation and services center.

It has a vast collection of: archeology, painting, drawing, engraving, lapidary that illustrates the history of Lisbon from the most ancient periods, such as prehistory and Romanization, until the century. XIX, passing through the baroque and pombaline city, highlighting the great model of reconstitution of the city before the 1755 Earthquake with the 3D reconstruction of some of its most notable urban ensembles and buildings.
The museum has reopened.
The green spaces of the Pimenta Palace have free access, from May 12, between 11 am and 5 pm.
